At present, in the pandemic situation of coronavirus, the government has instructed every citizen to wear a mask in populated areas. But in the meanwhile some rogue cops are harassing the common people without any reason. One such incident happened with Delhi lawyer Sourav Sharma. He was going to the office alone in his own car around 11 am on September 9. At that time, the on-duty officer of Delhi Police parked his car in front of Delhi's Gita Colony and fined him Rs 500 for driving without a mask. The question now is what is the need to wear a mask if you are alone in your private car.

Delhi lawyer Sourav Sharma was given an invoice of Rs 500 by the East Delhi Sub-Divisional Magistrate. At the time he wanted to see any written orders regarding the wearing of government masks, he was not shown anything and was additionally fined and mentally harassed. In that protest, he filed a case in the Delhi High Court seeking a refund of Rs 500 as well as compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

In fact, in dealing with Kovid-19, the Indian government has instructed the countrymen to wear masks in any populated area or where there are more than one person. But there is no point in wearing a mask if a person is alone in his own car. But some rogue policemen are harassing the common people without any reason. It is not a crime for Sourav Sharma to wear a mask alone in his own car. So he demanded a refund of his fine and also a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for harassing him in front of everyone.

Sourav Sharma said that after the partial lockdown in India, people are flocking everywhere and learning to maintain social distance. Neither the shopkeepers nor the buyers have seen the masks on their faces. There, the police are not taking strict action and are imposing fines wherever a person lives alone. This is very unfair. Also, he has reported a file to the Ministry of Health and Family Development of the Government of India seeking information on the rules of wearing a mask.
