India surpasses COP21 renewable energy capacity installation target: RK SINGH
India has not only achieved the renewable energy capacity installation target of COP 21, but has surpassed it with 1,90,000 MW of power generation against the installed renewable energy target of 1,75,000 MW. Union Energy and New and Renewable Energy Minister RK SINGH spoke to India’s public broadcaster ahead of the start of the third Global RE-Invest Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo. The meeting organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, will be held on a virtual forum from 26-28 November 2020.

Every country has felt that concrete steps will have to be taken by the world community to reduce the carbon footprint. Global warming is lacking by two degrees. RE-INVEST 2020
The third Global Renewable Energy Investment Meeting and Expo (REE-Invest 2020) will be held tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will actually inaugurate the event. During the two-day virtual conference, all major companies will showcase their latest technological developments in the field of renewable energy and discuss various options available for the energy transition.
Many world leaders, energy ministers from 70 countries and 200 eminent speakers will participate in the event.
Speaking exclusively to AIR about RE-Invest 2020 Meet & Expo, Minister of State for Energy, New and Renewable Energy RK SINGH said, $ 64 billion has been invested in the renewable energy sector in the last 5 to 6 years . He said, this is one of the sectors which has attracted such a large share of FDI in India. RK SINGH said that India has done very well in the renewable energy sector and every big company in the world is showing interest in investing in India.
