India has two of the 100 most powerful supercomputers in the world

The journey of Indian supercomputer started in the eighties. It was at this time that the Indian government decided to focus on building Indian supercomputers. This resulted in the birth of an organization like the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), whose main goal was to strengthen India’s position in the world of technology.

Just last month, C-DAC announced that it would be joining the production of Param Siddhi-AI, India’s largest HPC-AI supercomputer. Not only that, according to the report, this new and fastest super computer in India has written its name in the team of the most powerful super computer in the world.

International IT service providers like Atos also recently announced that Param Siddhi-AI is ranked 63rd among the top 500 supercomputers in the world. This is why it is undoubtedly the largest and fastest super computer in India.

In a nutshell, this Param Siddhi-AI is based on the NVIDIA DGX A100 system, the fastest supercomputer in India. The system is integrated with NVIDIA Mellanox HDR InfiniBand Network, C-DAC HPC-AI Engine, AI software stack and cloud platform. It also offers 4.6 Sustained Petaflops and 210 AI Petaflops speeds.

The supercomputer was created under the auspices of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), a joint venture between the Ministry of Electronics and IT and the Department of Science and Technology. It will focus on all types of researchers in the industry, including academia, MSMEs, and startups. It also covers all aspects of Artificial Intelligence such as Natural Language Processing, Surveillance and Image Processing, Automobile Industry, Health Care, Robotics, Computer Vision, Recommendation Systems, Education, Agriculture, Space Research, Defense and National Security.

Notably, Param Siddhi-AI is not the only Indian supercomputer to make it to the top 100. According to Mint, Pratyush, the supercomputer used for weather forecasting, was ranked 7th on the list.
