The farmer who committed suicide in the farmers' agitation committed suicide, these were his last words

On Sunday, a lawyer from Punjab allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on the Tikri border, a few kilometers from the Kisan agitation site. Police said Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Jalalabad in Fazilka district of Punjab, was taken to PGIMS in Rohtak, where doctors declared him dead.

In his suicide note, the deceased wrote that he is agitating against the central agricultural laws, giving his life in support of the farmers so that the government is forced to listen to the voice of the public. Singh wrote that common people like laborers and farmers are feeling ‘cheated’ due to three ‘black’ agricultural laws.

One thing was on the tongue of relatives

Relatives said that Amarjeet did not own the land, yet he went to join the dharna on the Delhi border for the rights of the farmers. When going from home to Delhi, the family stopped why you are going to Delhi, you don’t even have land. On this Amarjeet said that even though the land has been sold, but I am the son of a farmer, I will give my life for the rights of the farmers.

On receiving information about the death of Amarjeet, there was a mob of different groups and people at his house in Jalalabad. His wife Bimala Rani, daughter Sumandeep Kaur and son Navjot Singh Rohtak left for PGI. Relatives who arrived at the house said that Amarjeet’s ancestral village is Mahalam, where there was his land, which was sold. After this Amarjeet started living in Jalalabad.
