Grammys predictions: Who will, should and could win big this weekend

t’s that time of year again… sort of. In the old world, the Grammys took place in January, looking back on the best music of the year just gone, but the 63rd annual ceremony has been shunted back to March by Covid.

It means that instead of the usual glitzy in-person event, things will be done via live-stream. What remains the same, though, are all the many, many awards that will be handed out on the night.

So, who will win big? Who will go home empty-handed? And who will surprise almost everyone by causing an upset? Here, we’ve gone through the major categories and given our thoughts on who we reckon will, should and might come out victorious, with a few quick-fire predictions for the other accolades. Just don’t quote us on it.

Record of the Year

This is a tough one — you could make a fair case for pretty much every one of them. If it wasn’t for her five Grammys in 2020, we’d go for Billie Eilish, but with that in mind, our money’s on Savage. Megan Thee Stallion had a huge year, that beat is fully banging, and Queen Bey adds undeniable Grammy-winning star power.

Who should win? Savage (Remix) — Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé

For all the reasons above, basically.

Who’s got an outside chance? Say So — Doja Cat

It feels like this song was absolutely everywhere last year, so don’t count it out.

Slight confusion here, as Song of the Year is… basically the same as Record of the Year (fine print about songwriters and recordings notwithstanding), but Savage hasn’t been nominated as the best song. That means we’re pretty sure Beyoncé will top up her career total of 24 Grammys.

Who should win? Don’t Start Now — Dua Lipa

For us, it has to be Lipa again (if only for that cowbell in the chorus).

Who’s got an outside chance? Everything I Wanted — Billie Eilish

The industry still absolutely adores Eilish, and it seems hard to imagine that she’d go home completely empty-handed. This might be the one.

Promising Young Woman: The film that’s dividing feminists
