Martinez not leaving Inter

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed Lautaro Martinez will sign a new contract and ignore interest from the likes of Tottenham.

Marotta said: “He is one of those players who explicitly wanted to stay with us, despite having had offers from other clubs.

“We are proud and confident.”

Bologna and Chelsea are due to meet on Monday to discuss a loan move for Malang Sarr.

They claim that Bayern Munich are interested in Tottenham’s wantaway record signing.

West Ham eye Sevilla’s De Jong

West Ham are in the market for new signings before the August 31 deadline, with only goalkeeper Alphonse Areola having arrived on loan from PSG so far this summer.

A new striker to help support and take some of the workload off Michail Antonio is a priority, with the latter left to carry the burden alone since the sale of record signing Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January.

Is Aymeric Laporte set to leave Manchester City?

According to the Daily Mail, both Juventus and Real Madrid are interested in the Spanish international centre-back.

It is reported that City agreed with Laporte – who is third behind Ruben Dias and John Stones in Pep Guardiola’s defensive pecking order – before the summer that he would be allowed to depart if a bid worth £60m was made.

ICYMI – Tottenham close in on Sarr deal

In happier news for Tottenham, they are reportedly closing in on the signing of a new midfielder in Pape Sarr.

According to various outlets including ESPN, Spurs have beaten the likes of Manchester City, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco and Borussia Dortmund to the punch by agreeing an initial €10m fee with Metz for the Senegal international, 18, with the deal including an additional €5m in add-ons.

Tottenham will now look to agree personal terms with Sarr, who is likely to be loaned back to Metz for the rest of the 2021/22 season.

Ndombele to leave Tottenham?

Nuno Espirito Santo has suggested it is not his job to convince players to play for Tottenham amid serious doubts over Tanguy Ndombele’s future at the club.

Spurs’ record signing has yet to feature under the new manager and reports suggest he has asked to leave before the August 31 transfer deadline.

“What happened in the past I can’t even think about and I don’t mention it out of respect,” Nuno said after confirming that Ndombele would not be involved in Sunday’s visit to Wolves in the Premier League.

“What I can tell you is that Tanguy is with us, he works but we have to speak honestly. And to take the best out of Tanguy, it has to come from himself. It has to come from himself. I don’t want to go much farther than that but it has to come from himself.”

Nuno added: “First of all I must speak to Tanguy before even addressing you.

“We already had a chance to talk but it must come from himself. I said it before: my job here is not to convince players to play for Tottenham Hotspur, it is to prepare players to play for Tottenham Hotspur.”


ICYMI – Man United target Mbappe

A reminder now of one of the biggest transfer stories that broke yesterday.

According to ESPN, Manchester United are eyeing Kylian Mbappe as one of their high-profile striker targets for next summer.

Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez are also said to make up a shortlist of star names, with one desired to fill the void created by the expected departure of Edinson Cavani at the end of the season.

Mbappe has entered the final 12 months of his deal at Paris Saint-Germain and is yet to agree an extension, though a season playing with the newly-signed Lionel Messi may well change his mind!

Liverpool have also been linked with the French superstar, 22, who has long been a target for Real Madrid.
