How to apply for a colorful voter ID online

As soon as we say voter ID, a piece of laminated black and white paper floats in front of our eyes. Although very simple to see, it is worth a lot in terms of importance. If the application is valid, the Election Commission of India provides the applicant with his Voter ID Proof or EPIC (Electoral Photo ID Card). How to apply for a colorful voter ID online

1. First you have to open the National Voter’s Service Portal or NVSP’s website (

3. The applicant will register himself in the portal by going to the redirected page. In this case he has to create a new account. Anyone can sign up for the portal with their Google, Facebook or Twitter account.

4. Then you have to submit Form 8. In this case you need to fill the form with photographs and other information. Then you have to submit the form. Keep notes of what you learned from the process. These will be needed later to check the status of your application.

What to do to collect voter ID offline

To get a voter ID offline, contact the nearest e-service or m-service center. Take the necessary documents with you. Then fill and submit Form 8.

The Election Commission will then verify that the information or documents you have provided are correct. After verification and authentication, you will be given a new colorful voter i-card by the Election Commission.
