IPhone not waterproof, Apple fined ১২ 12 million for fake promotion

Apple, one of the best tech companies in the world, has to pay a fine of 12 million dollars (10 million euros) this time! According to a recent report, the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) has asked Apple to pay about ১২ 12 million in damages for lying about the iPhone device. According to a Reuters report, the brand’s iPhones are being promoted as water-resistant, but the claim is misleading. And that’s why Apple has caught the wrath of the Italian company.

AGCM has said in a press release that it has criticized Apple enough. The Italian Competition Authority claims that the iPhone 8 and 8+ models, which came on the market in 2016, did not show any water-resistant features. The manufacturer claims that these iPhone models can usually stay intact for up to 30 minutes at a depth of up to four meters in water. But according to AGCM, this feature of the iPhone is effective when tested with stagnant and pure water in the laboratory. But under normal circumstances i.e. when users use these devices this water resistant feature is not so effective.

AGCM also said that Apple’s iPhone 8, iPhone 8+, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max models have seen similar issues. Apple does not offer warranty services on any water-related damage to these phones. Apple, on the other hand, markets them as water resistant. So the American company will have to pay compensation for the false propaganda.

However, this is not the first time that Apple has faced this kind of discomfort! The technology company was involved in the Batterygate scandal a few years ago. The allegation was that Apple slowed down the performance of the old iPhone without giving any warning to the users. The company was fined about মিল 10 million at the time.
