Vodafone-Idea Limited, like Reliance Jio and Airtel, has launched WiFi calling service for its customers. They have launched this service for the customers from 15th December i.e. yesterday. One can easily receive or send calls via wireless connection using WiFi calling or VoWi-Fi service. For now, customers in Maharashtra and Goa and Kolkata will be able to use VoWi-Fi.
Although late, Vi has not officially announced anything about bringing WiFi calling service for customers. However, in response to a question from Amit Sharma, a representative of the popular TelecomTalk on Twitter, their official support team informed about this service. Asked what they were thinking about launching a WiFi calling service, they said: “Wi-Fi calling is a service that allows a person to make voice calls over a wireless internet like home and office broadband or public WiFi. Calls can be received and sent using this service even if network coverage is poor anywhere. The problem of call drop will also decrease. The service will be available to customers in Maharashtra and Goa and Kolkata Circle from December 15, 2020. ”
The official support team’s announcement suggests that the VoWi-Fi service will work with any broadband operator. Recall, in December last year, Geo and Airtel launched WiFi calling service for their customers. About a year later, the VI is on their way. However, for a long time, Taka was working experimentally with this service.
Although Vi’s VoWi-Fi service is currently available in Maharashtra and Goa and Kolkata circles, we expect the service to be available to customers in other circles very soon. In this case, however, they lag behind the two major telecom companies in India, Reliance Jio and Airtel. Meanwhile, it is not yet known which devices will support this service of Vi.
